CACPI Team at Shanghai Renji hospital hosted students studying ACT Australian Senior Secondary Certificate in China for entry to ANU

Dr Ed Bertram welcomed the school group in his first public speech in Chinese and the introduced Professor Carola Vinuesa who gave a background on the research Centre, the science and its activities. The CACPI staff then gave a tour of the laboratory and core facilities. Several students were extremely interested in the work of the Centre and expressed interest in studying human biology. ANU Global Partnership Scheme awarded to CACPI

The ANU Global Research Partnerships Scheme provides strategic investment to seed and match funding for significant global partnerships and collaboration that will build scale and excellence consistent with our commitment to research. Chinese National Science Foundation Grants Awarded to CACPI members

CACPI team have recently been awarded two new grants by the Chinese National Science Foundation. “Rare variants in the ROQUIN gene family in rare immune and inflammatory and autoimmune diseases” led by Carola Vinuesa and Vicki Athanasopoulos was awarded a four years grant.
Yuke He has also been awarded the Young Scientists Fund of the National Natural Science Foundation of China for her project “Investigation of possible damaging variants on NK cell function in SLE”. Carola Vinuesa awarded Advisory Professorship at Jiao Tong University

In March 2018 Carola Vinuesa was awarded an Advisory Professorship at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) for five years. The aim the professorship is to promote the university's internationalisation strategy and encourage the teaching, research, discipline construction, academic exchanges and international cooperation of our university.

CACPI attend Cold Spring Harbour Conference at Suzhou

Yuke He (Postdoctoral fellow), Chengmei Xie (Technician) and Carola attended the Cold Spring Harbour Asia. Inflammation: Basic Mechansims & Relevant Diseases at Suzhou, where Carola was invited to deliver a plenary speech ‘Control of human germinal center responses by follicular helper and regulatory T cells. ANU VC Brian Schmidt visits China-Australia Centre for Personalised Immunology

Vice Chancellor Brian Schmidt and his delegation including Shirley Leitch (PVC), Rae Frances (CASS) and Amanda Barry was hosted by the Vice-President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University at Minhang campus. Following broad discussions on possible ways ANU and SJTU could collaborate, Carola gave a presentation to the ANU and SJTU delegates on CACPI, presenting the staff (Renji and ANU), collaborators patients cohorts, projects, funding obtained and publications already in place.  The ANU VC and SJTU Vice-President expressed their congratulations at the progress of establishing this Centre.

Following the meeting, ANU VC Brian Schmidt  visited   the CACPI  laboratory and met staff. In the evening, the ANU held an Alumni event in Xintandi that was well attended by over 100 people. During his speech the VC highlighted CACPI as the shining example of a real joint Australia-China research centre.
